Getting here

A hotel eight hundred and fifty-five townspeople built in 1923 — still standing on Kentucky Street, 35 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge.
Built in 1923 and opened on 22 April 1924, Hotel Petaluma is the second hotel to stand on this corner — the first, the Brooklyn, was lost to fire. Resident shareholders pooled $250,000 of the $350,000 it cost to raise Petaluma's first and foremost hostelry.
San Francisco architects drew an Art Deco interior around a spacious mezzanine. Guests arrived by ferry, railway and car for the live bands, the lavish dinners and the Redwood Room. The original elevator — Petaluma's first passenger elevator — still runs today, thoughtfully modernized with an updated door while preserving its historic character.
The front entrance was never locked. That policy has outlasted every owner since.

The Shuckery serves oysters fresh from Bodega Bay, alongside fresh catches and coastal favorites. Two more independents are opening in the building — a spritz bar and a French bakery — and the rest of downtown Petaluma starts at the door.
The elegant dining hall where formal dinners were held in the twenties is still our banquet room. Nineteen hundred square feet, fifteen-foot ceilings, hardwood floors and the original windows.
